Where Does My Involvement In The Recruitment Process End?

It’s a question someone asked me yesterday. And it made me think about the additional value that I give to both clients and candidates. A candidate who landed his dream job through me before Christmas. He has been working hard and really enjoying the challenge. But he had a ‘wobble’ yesterday about an issue in the business and he called me for some advice.

Recruiting during the Pandemic has allowed for a different relationship between me and my clients and candidates. They are more open with me and are relying on me for more support.

Don’t get me wrong – I will always go the extra mile, that’s why they work with me but during these last 12 months it feels somehow more personal; as if the barriers have been dropped.

So back to the wobbling candidate: like many that have joined new businesses in this past year, we have become friends. We have built up a relationship via the quirks of Zoom yet we are closer. In order to avoid any potential professional conflict, I am helpful and supportive to this candidate and he knows he can call on my help.

My role doesn’t end the day the job begins and the Good Luck card arrives on the doormat: I’m available for those ‘wobbly’ moments, often a touch of the imposter syndrome for those taking a step up into a new role; I’m in touch regularly over the following 6 months to ensure our new recruit is working well and values are aligned; sometimes I’m a sounding board for the client to share their ongoing concerns: whatever the reason, they know I care and they know I’m there.

If you are looking to work with someone who will genuinely go the extra mile, who will care about you and your future, who will be a trusted sounding board, give me a call.
